We do a lot of competitions in Carrig school such as the hand-writing competition. We have to write a small story on an A4 page.
We also do the ‘write a book’ competition. You have to write story then edit it into a book. You can type it or hand write it. Most people type it because it is neater. You can draw pictures to put in your story or you can get them on the computer as clip art or you can do both.
FIS
We also do the ‘fís’ project, which involves making a film. Every year we enter each year and usually win a prize. We all love the fis because every one is involved. The best film we made was the importance of noses. We made four films altogether.
MEET THE SPUDS!
“Meet The Spuds!” is a competition from Agri Aware that the children of Fifth and Sixth Class of Carrig National School did in the Spring and Summer of 2008. In February they planted the potatoes. This took a great deal of hard work that might have tired them out. Over the months, they cared for the potatoes, they watered them and kept an eye on them. All the while, they also did some projects on the different kinds of potatoes there are and other things. In June, they dug the potatoes out of the soil. Then they washed them and weighed them and even took a photograph of them. They later got a framed certificate from Agri Aware for what they did. Agri Aware do a different competition every year and “Meet The Spuds” was one of them.
