History
Carrig National School has undergone many changes since it was built in 1911. The principal at this time was Miss Catherine Mahon who went on to become the first woman president of the I.N.T.O.
As the school outgrew the old building, a new extension was begun in June 1993 and was completed in May 1994. The principal at the helm, at this time, was Mr. Tony Dargan. The extension was officially opened by the Bishop of Killaloe – Dr. W. Walsh, in Dec.1994.
By 2007 the school had again outgrown its quarters and plans were once again drawn up to extend the building. This latest extension was started in Jan. 2008 and was completed and ready for occupation by the beginning of the new school year in Sept. 2008 The principal overseeing this project was Mr. Tony Sampson.
